Plant and Floral Arrangements

When I realized I loved arranging and creating containers with flowers and plants, I had no clue what I was doing. I have always had a pretty good eye for detail in fashion and decorating. After 30 years in hospitality management, I began to work as a sales associate at a very large garden center. I fell in love immediately. I created decor ideas and containers for customers, and people ooohed and ahhhed over my work. Eventually, I was appointed to the Washington National Cathedral's esteemed Flower Guild., creating arrangements for all the chapels and cathedrals within the campus. I was there for 5 years while continuing to work at the garden center. I found a part-time job with a florist. I hated it. I laugh still, the owner hated my work, she said I was too whimsical. I respect florists, I just don't have the visual to "stay inside of the lines" of the traditional floral arrangements. So I went out on my own, creating big floral and plant containers for customers during the holiday seasons and springtime.

I love what I do. My work isn't for everyone, and that's ok. I create because it brings me joy. I'm a very visual person. I derive great satisfaction from finishing an arrangement, looking at all the different dynamics just on one plant or flower, not to mention an entire arrangement.

I offer private consultations in your home or business, one-on-one tutorials, or leading a group to create individual containers in the store. If you do what you love, it will never feel like work.
